Documents Required for Personal Loan Application

To avail a personal loan, you need to submit a few basic documents to verify your identity, address, income and employment status. The exact documents depend on your employment type, income profile, residence status and the lender's requirements.

If you are a salaried individual, documents may include Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID or passport for identity proof; address proof may include a passport, driving licence, Voter ID and utility bills (water, gas, electricity). Income proof may include your latest salary slips, Form 16, ITR, where applicable, and bank statements.

If you are a self-employed individual, additional documents may include the last 2 years' ITR, current or savings account statements, Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Statement and business registration or address proof, depending on the lender.

Some existing customers may be eligible for pre-approved personal loan offers with reduced documentation. Requirements depend on the lender and the customer's profile.

Keep in mind: PAN and identity documents may be required for KYC, while income, employment and bank documents help the lender assess repayment capacity. Document submission does not guarantee loan approval.
